| DECEMBER 2008 |
Atlanta Xplosion would like to annouce the hiring of Coach Maurice Tyler as Head Coach for
the 2009 Season.
Maurice coached defensive backs last season and has over 30 years of
experience as a coach and player, playing in the NFL from 1972-1979, most notably with the
NY Jets. Maurice in just one year with the program has earned the respect of the players
and staff because of his tough coaching style and his ability to get the most out of the
players. He is a winner and will expect nothing less from our team. "Maurice brings
commitment, dedication, and discipline to our program and we are excited to have him
lead our program back to the IWFL championship," says owner Takela Corbitt. "You can
expect to see a very aggressive, hard hitting, fundamental team with Maurice at the helm."
Coach Maurice will bring several new coaches to the program apart of his staff, some of which
have coached with him on the high school and college level. Expecting the biggest turnout of
new players in the history of the program and several new coaches, Xplosion will be expecting
the start of the season to be tough. "We are ready to get started. We have to teach these
women fundamental football and get them accustomed to my staff and our philosophies of football.
We have a lot of work to do in order to produce a competitive team in April," says head coach
Maurice Tyler.
The Atlanta Xplosion program has a tradition of winning and has produced winning seasons since
it became apart of the IWFL in 2003. Winning its first IWFL National Championship in 2006 and
playing in 3 out of the last 4 IWFL Championship games, the Xplosion franchise is hungry to bring
the championship back to Atlanta. This will not be an easy task, facing women's football
powerhouses Dallas Diamonds (2008 IWFL Champions) and Houston Energy in division play will be
a tough schedule for a new staff and new team. " We expect to have a tough schedule this season
and realize that we have to accelerate the learning curves of these new players. For our
program, Coach Maurice is the leader that we need to get us there," says owner Takela Corbitt.
Atlanta Xplosion will play its games at James Hallford Stadium located at 3789 Memorial College
Drive, Decatur, GA.

more about the game of football just before the season begins. The Xplosion were special
guests at this event, and were often used for visuals on formations, plays, stance and
other basic fundamentals. They were also asked to speak about their team, their experiences,
and their love for the game of football. There were over 200 ladies in attendance recieving
additional motivation from Griff of the A-team and Falcon's fullback Ovie Mughelli to name a few.
"It was a great opportunity for our team to gain more exposure and to also see Rashan, a huge
Xplosion supporter to take the time out to acknowledge that the game of football is no longer
just a man's game. She encourage women to learn more about the sport and made everyone there
