April 30, 2005 ~ At Orlando Mayhem
The ATLANTA XPLOSION Women’s football team continues their winning record of 5-0 after a 40-6 road win over the Orlando Mayhem Saturday.
The game started with Charmaine Chin taking the opening kickoff 75 yards for an early 6-0 lead. The extra point was no good and the defense went to work. The defense once again remained solid with interceptions by #27 Cherie Collins and Mickieon Dozier, #23. Leading tackler for the day was Carla Odom with a total of 13 (4 unassisted), with Kimba Reams finishing with 12 (8 unassisted with 2 sacks).
But the “Big” story this day was #12 Charmaine Chin, who rushed 9 times for 211 yards with 3 touchdowns. “This girl is special and fun to watch,” says head coach Beniamino. “However, if it weren’t for the front five interior linewomen play of Brenda Barnes, Robyn Little, Gwen Johnson, Celeste Rausch, and Candence Jackson, then you may not have seen as many yards.”
Rounding out the offensive drives of the day; the other three touchdowns came from a one-yard plunge from Jasmine Frederick, QB #11 Sue Cackowski, and a connection to wide receiver #84 Natasha Slan.
The Xplosion come home for there next game on May 14th. The game will be played at Campbell High School in Smyrna at 7:00p.m. Tickets can be purchased early for a discount by calling our ticket office at 678-592-1217.
