Atlanta Xplosion - 2006 IWFL Champions!
Congratulations to the Atlanta Xplosion, 2006 IWFL Champions, on their
21-14 victory the Detroit Demolition who has never loss a game
in their organizational history.
For our fans come meet the players and staff from the Xplosion this Friday, August 4, at the ESPN Zone, 3030 Peachtree Road,
Atlanta, 6:30 pm(404.682.3776).There will be a reception for all fans and a chance to get a sneak peak of the
Championship Trophy. Please witness the first full contact football team of this caliber in history to bring
a National Championship home to Atlanta. After the reception come celebrate with the Champions there will be
a Championship after party at Club Miami, 3011 Buford Hwy, Atlanta. (404.929.9991).
These players sweat, bleed and toil through practice, risk serious injury, pay for all their equipment and
travel expenses, and happily hold fundraisers to earn airfare to the championship game. (Imagine Terrell
Owens holding a car wash to pay for his airfare to the Super Bowl). They play to sparse, but loyal
crowds. They get very few headlines and no compensation. They have no shoe contracts. They also
have no training camp holdouts or salary disputes or prima donna hissy fits or doping scandals.
Remarkably, many of these women have played full-contact football every season since Atlanta first
fielded a team five years ago -- tremendous dedication considering most of them are squeezing football in
between real jobs as lawyers, cops, engineers, teachers, and moms.
Next season starts in April 2007. If you appreciate athleticism, teamwork, sportsmanship and smash-mouth
football, go see your defending world champion Atlanta Xplosion in action (www.atlantaxplosion.com). Take
your daughters. Let them see what champions look like -- dedicated, stellar athletes who play solely for the
love of the game.
