ATLANTA XPLOSION XPLODES AGAINST 3-TIME IWFL NATIONAL CHAMPIONS THE SACRAMENTO SIRENS
(May 1, 2006- Atlanta, GA) The Atlanta Xplosion kicked off their first game of the 2006 season against the 3-time IWFL National Champion Sacramento Sirens in Sacramento, CA and defeated the Sirens 67-20. As two of the League’s most successful full contact, all-female football teams, this was a rematch that media and fans have been talking about since the two teams took the field at the National Championship in New Hampshire last August. The Atlanta Xplosion came out on fire with back-to-back touchdowns from running back Keisha Hamilton. Both teams have been reorganizing after losing over 15 veteran players after the National Championship last year, changing the dynamics of both teams and leaving it a toss up as to what the outcome would be. According to Head Coach Phil Beniamino, “This is a great way to start off the season, I said to my ladies, losing is not an option, and they went out and played hard and I was proud. This is a different team with a great attitude.” Come out and support the Atlanta Xplosion as they take on the Baton Rouge Wildcats this weekend May 6, 2006, at Campbell High School located in Smyrna, Georgia. The National Anthem will be performed by the Stone Mountain Jazz Band in addition to halftime performance by the Caustic Dames, the world's #1 selling independent female hip hop soul group.
