ATLANTA XPLOSION WOMEN PARTICIPATE IN READ-IN ON MARCH 2, 2006, AT HAMBRICK ELEMENTARY, STONE MOUNTAIN
(March 1, 2006 - Stone Mountain, GA) The Atlanta Xplosion, member of the Independent
Women's Football League (IWFL), and one of the South's most successful full-contact,
all-female football team, are teaming up to participate in the 5th Annual "Read-in"
at Hambrick Elementary this Thursday, March 2, 2006. Appearing alongside players
from The Atlanta Falcons and the Georgia Force Arena Football teams, players will
read stories from Dr. Seuss's Storybook Classics, to Tim Kennemore's, Circle of Doom.
"Each year the players from the Atlanta Xplosion do not hesitate when it comes to our school.
Spending time with the kids and reading to them is a treat, the students love it," says
school teacher and offensive guard for the Atlanta Xplosion, Brenda Barnes, who has
successfully created such a wonderful program for the children at Hambrick Elementary.
"The Atlanta Xplosion was one of the first teams to ever take the time to visit Hambrick
Elementary, and have made huge impacts on the kids that attend here." Even as the
Xplosion prepare for their upcoming season, the ladies of the Xplosion are still
taking the time for such a great event.
